About a week ago, I received a correspondence from an inspirtional site that i really like. It was a bitter-sweet story about a family in difficulty with an overall theme of – Don’t Eat Your Seed Corn.
Now for those of you who don’t know what “seed corn” is, let me give you my interpretationof it.
At the end of each year’s harvest, a wise farmer will separate out At Least enough seed (or seed corn if a corn farmer) to sow his fields for the n4xt year. The wisest of the farmer will take his seed from the very best of his harvest assuring a boutiful crop the next year.
Well, in a way, we all have our own “seed corn” if you will. It is divided into both our time and our money.
Question – Out of all of the “seed” you have in your possession, which do you believe is the most important – your time or your money?
If you said your money – in my opinion – you are absolutely WRONG!
Why?
Well, let me put it this way, no matter how rich or poor you are, or evn in between – the most important thing that we have in common is that each of us are only alloted 24 hours a day!
Think about it. It is possible for you to lose your job and become penniless, and then win the lottery and be rich. In other words, your ability to get and lose money is flexible and can be surprisingly arbitrary.
However…
There is nothing, absolutely nothing the richest person (or poorest) can do to increase the 24 hours alloted to them each day. Each day (and night) are strictly doled out with only 24 hours to use, once that is done, you have to start all over againl.
Simply put … Use It or Lose It!
Got it? Good!
The Value of Your Time -
Now that it’s understod that time is the most precius of your seed corn, let’s talk about the Value of Your time.
Most people have a way to make money. It doesn’t really matter whether it is from working as an employee, a boss or receiving some sort of retirement check. Which ever way it comes in (if there’s any coming in at all) the total is what it is.
So, how much do you make an hour? Eight, Twelve, Twenty dollars an hour? Depending on your present circumstances as well as your needs you could consider those amounts either a wonderful wish or not even adequate – however, it still is what it is.
So, let’s do some calculations.
How muc do you make an hour? Get a calculator (if you’re under 25) or take out a pad and paper (for the rest of us) and let’s do some figuring.
Now, you may say, that’s not necessary – for example, I get paid $80 for 8 hours of work.. so I make $10 and hour.
Hmm… yes and no!
Let’s think a bit.
Exactly how many working hours in a day? Eight, Nine, Ten?
I’ve got a radical suggestion, just for math’s sake — instead of dividing the total by 8 to 10 hours, how about we all get on the same page and divide it by 24!
Now I bet a lot of you just said…”What! I don’t work 24 hours a day!”
Guess what. I knew that before you said it. However, you’re forgetting our basic premise. Although you don’t it doesn’t mean that you couldn’t, or at least, work more than you are
So What Are We Doing With Our Time -
The average person sleeps a third of their life away or more.
The average person recreates a third of their life or more. (Some even do it when they’re supposed to be working. But that’s another subject.;)
The point I’m trying to make is that you may be “chewing” mor ethan your “planting” and then you look up one day and wonder why you’re living paycheck to paycheck
Speculate to Accumulate -
Look I’m not telling anyone what they should do. I can only tell you what I did to start changing things around, and so like my good friend Chris Farrell said, “You have to speculate to accumulate”. How you do that is simply up to you, but keep this in mind, the seed clock is constantly ticking and you can only reap what you sow.
Let me make you a suggestion. How about taking a bit of that recreation time (just a bit don’t panic) and plant that time in something that will grow more “corn” for you and your family. It won’t be easy to start but it can be done because I do it everyday…and frankly, if I can do it so can anyone else.
All you need is the desire and the vehicle to start.
I promise you that if your bring the desire to the table I can show you the same “vehicle” I use to get started from the comfort of your own home. And the good news is it’s totally FREE!
Just ask my friend Chris.
I don’t know who wrote this and I’m not sure anyone could tell me, but I received it today in a wonderful message I get daily and I wished to share it with you. It falls under the category I would call …Ponderful!
.
There are two days in every week about which we should not worry.
Two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.
.
One of these days is yesterday with its mistakes and cares,
Its faults and blunders, Its aches and pains.
Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control.
All the money in the world cannot bring back yesterday.
We cannot undo a single act we performed.
We cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone.
.
The other day we should not worry about is tomorrow.
With its possible adversities, Its burdens,
Its large promise and poor performance.
Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control.
Tomorrow’s Sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds,
but it will rise.
Until it does, we have no stake in tomorrow, for it is yet unborn.
.
This just leaves only one day . . . Today.
Any person can fight the battles of just one day.
It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternity’s -
yesterday and tomorrow that we break down.
.
It is not the experience of today that drives people mad.
It is the remorse or bitterness for something which happened yesterday
and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.
.
Let us therefore live but one day at a time.

Okay for a lot of people the kids are back in school and the stores are screaming Halloween even though it is 6-weeks down the road.
I have to admit that in the past that used to really bug me but, as an Internet Marketer, I know the importance of being the first with the best. After all, competition is getting stiffer by the moment and snoozing will definitely get you losing.
That being said I have to take a moment and reflect on the past year. I was working on my first year of being “let go” by my last employer and the funds were almost depleted. However, the strange part is that the longer I was withut a “9 to 5″ the more I realized I didn’t want another one. After all, who builds a house on sand!
So, what to do?
I’d always been good at the computer but I had no idea how to utilize it to make mone, other than word processing, and even then I knew I was limited by the hours in the day.
It was then I remembered reading once that the amount of money I was receiving was directly in proportion to the amount of service I was giving. The solution – to give more service! But how?
There’s an old daying – “when the student is ready the teacher will appear”. Well, for me, that was as true as it can get. I can’t even tell you right now when the idea came to me to learn more about webites but I did. It wasn’t too long after that – searching first one place then another – that I received an email from a guy whose name has been lost to me but he did throw me a lifeline. It came in the form of a free ebook about building my first website, and he introduced me to a man named Chris Farrell.
Now, at the time I had gone through my share of “free” things that always seem to have a catch to them, and I figured that this FREE book would be another one of those useless tools, but I was wrong – and I am so glad I was!
As Chris admitted himself, when I clicked on his link, that he was not from a “techy” background and explained about how he came to wrote his course book “Create A Website By 3:45 This Afternoon”.
The important thing is that he told the truth – not just about his book, but about everything he has stated since then.
Long story short -
It’s been almost a year since I’ve started working with Chris’s book and membership site and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life! A year ago, I wasn’t sure how I was going to survive without working for another person, and now I find myself working for myself at home with a brand new web design business and a lot of confidence in my future. And it all started from a free book written by a guy who has become a great friend – who I have never met. Now if you think that sounds silly just imagine feeling that way. I’ve learned more from associated with Chris in the last year than I’ve learned in all the years i worked for someone else – and I’m still learning because through his influence I have networked with others who consistently increase my education.
And so, I will always be indebted to Chris Farrell for his impact on my life and look forward to the day I can tell him Thank You in person. In the meantime, I will do my best to pay forward what he has given to me.
If you are realy serious about making a brand new start in your life and you believe the internet (like I do) can help you, then check out Chris’s website course in his absolutely FREE ebook – Create Your First Website By 3:45 This Afternoon.
You’ll be glad you did.

Every so often my birthday falls exactly on Labor Day as it did this year and because it officially (in my opinion) marks the year that I moved from the “Summer” of my life to the “Autumn” I have found myself pondering as to when does Summer really end.
Some say it is on Labor Daybecause where I live in the United States school starts tomorrow. Officially, the “Autumnal equinox is September 22-23″ marking the beginning of Fall. However, for me I believe the town of Williamsport, PA has marked it best for the last 64 years.
You see they have been the host for the Little League World Series for 64 Years!
.
“Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack,
I don’t care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don’t win it’s a shame.
For it’s one, two, three strikes, you’re out,
At the old ball game.”

For those of you who are not familiar with this wonderful tradition I wish I had time to get you up to speed but to do so would require a novel not a post, but for those who have checked it out in the past and may even have tuned in this year may be asking what does Little League have to do with building a business online?
The answer is simple.
The same qualities it takes to be successful in any endeavor are epitomized by the final 16 teams that earned their way to Williamsport, Pennsylvania in August of each year.
Let me break it down a bit further -
Now I’ve been a fan of several sports over the years, but baseball will always be my favorite. Why? Because there are very few places in sports where–if you’re willing to work hard and gather the skills–a less than five foot “David” can go toe-to-toe with a nearly six-foot “Goliath” and triumph again and again!
Okay, now you know why I like baseball — But what’s so special about Little League?
It has been said that in the world of Little League there are no losers. I know it sounds a cliche but statement is just so true when talking about the new 2010 United States Champion team from Waipahu, Hawaii. And while I am not trying to take anything away from the new 2010 Little League World Champions from Japan, I don’t know many major league teams that could duplicate the journey that Hawaii took–with the limitations imposed upon them–and still make it to the big game! They were truly awesome!
And they weren’t the only ones – but I’ll get to that in a moment.
For those of you not aware, unlike a Major League game, a Little League game only last 6 inning — but still the scoreboard doesn’t always tell the whole story. Many times the lessons taught and learned by all involved are the true measure of winners and losers. Some of the factors that can’t be posted on the board are things like, persistence, tenacity but mostly heart. And like Hawaii’s coach Brian Yoshii said, “When you’re little you have to have a lot of heart.” Hawaii did–and then some!.
However, like in any games there are only a few trophies to be handed out, but if you will indulge me a bit I believe there are a few I would like to Honorably Mention:
VERY HONORABLE MENTIONS
AWARD for the BIGGEST LITTLE GUY
Goes to New England’s own Nate Klein
On Friday August 20, During Game #1 young Nate Klein and his New England team triumphed over the Northwest. “Minnie-Me” as his fellow teammates affectionately call him because he is under 5 feet tall and less than 100 pounds showed that those pounds were mostly his heart as he fielded and hit his heart out. And all with an earlobe to earlobe smile. He personified all that should be best in baseball and what is best in Little League. Congratulations, Nate on a fine performance!
AWARD for the COACH OF THE DECADE
On Saturday, August 21 in Game #5 during a game between the Mid-Atlantic team and Great Lakes, even while suffering a great deficit in runs, Coach Paul Deceglie of Toms River, New Jersey proved that he was truly the best. Even when falling behind he never lost faith, he never showed less than 100% confidence in his players and in the end he made everyone who watched him wished they were or had been coached by someone just like him. My hats off to you, sir. I know we’ll all see you again.
AWARD for the best HEART OVER HEAD DECISION
On Tuesday, August 24 during Game 18, Washington had pulled slightly ahead during their rematch with New England but their pitcher’s count had expired close to the end and had to be replaced. Washington’s coach could have put a top choice in his place but emporwed his team by asking them who they thought should pitch. It took a moment of discussion between his boys before they finally picked Robbie Wilson to pitch.
Now Robbie hadn’t pitched in either the Regionals nor the Word Series up to that point, and the coach could have overrode the decision but everyone hoped he was right when they saw the size of the smile Robbie had on his face as he raced in from the out field.
The game was close enough to still lose but the risk was worth it and it paid off for everyone involved. That night the majority didn’t just rule they won!
AWARD for the BEST PITCHING QUESTION EVER ASKED (and answered)
Saturday , August 28 – Game 30
US Championship Game
During the US Championship game between Hawaii and Texas, young Jorge Gutierrez was put into the game to relieve their number one pitcher. Hawaii was already beating them and by the time he hit is 20th pitch which would still qualify him to pitch on the following day his coach came out with a smile on his face and asked him who he wished to pitch to the next day.
He had caught the young boy unaware and a quick glance at the scoreboard had him stating that he would be pitching to the team that the loser of the game he was in was playing. His coach smiled real big, told him “wrong answer” and said they were going to get 8 runs in the top of the last inning.
Although his prediction didn’t come true, it did give his relieved pitcher and I beleive millions of people around the world watching a chance to smile and laugh a bit and relieve some of the tension. It was a good question, an honest answer, and a great retort. It’s things like that that lets the fans watching know how those coaches got to Williamsport to begin with.
If you watched the games you know why they deserved the awards. If you didn’t you may have missed out. Although 2 of the 4 “winners” above–scorewise–wereon the losing team, anyone who saw the game would have to admit that, at the very least, it should have been called a draw.
Again, this is beside how awesome Hawaii run was which played out more like a movie then real life. It was truly that good.
Yes, life can truly be stranger than fiction, and sometimes that’s a good thing.
I hope for those who had the privilege of sharing this annual experience with family and friends had a great time and may have even picked up on a new perspective through this post.
However, for those who missed the original broadcasts you may not have missed your your chance. Depending on when you are reading this, it may still not be too late. The great folks at ESPN3.com offers replays of all the games and I highly recommend you check them out and see if you can stretch out your summer just a little bit more.
But I have to warn you they can’t keep the links active forever, and so if you wait to late – like a Nick Hardone home run this opportunity will be Going, Going, GONE!

7th Inning Postscript – It’s been nearly a month since I wrote this post and I got a chance to see some of the games I missed the first time around. In doing so I realized (so far) that one other team deserves an “Award” as well and that would be Team Canada who not only showed a good sense of humor (especially after their defeat at the hands of Taiwan) but also because of how awesome the players and coaches overall displayed themselves throughout the whole series. They showed–whether winning or not–that they had class, style, humor, but mostly great sportsmanship!
Team Canada, you’re a credit to the name of baseball!
8th Inning Postscript – There was a lot of good old music and a lot of good new music during the game and thanks to YouTube I would like to share some of it with you on your long drive hime from the ballpark:
